Why Keep Blogging? The Art of Comparisons

Happy Monday to you all! It's been very busy being back at work but in some weird way I seem to get more done. Having only a few days to get all the housework done , run errands, and get my son to sports surprisingly makes me a better time manager. Don't get me wrong I love having the summer to work at a different pace, and getting back into routine is hard, but it's also a welcome change. So making time for blogging does get challenging.
In the blogging world it's so hard not to compare yourself to others, with so many people blogging these days, it's easy to see what opportunities everyone is getting and you're not. It's hard not to become discouraged and to find motivation to keep going. So why do I keep blogging you ask? Well because simply, I love it. I have been very lucky to work with some amazing companies, and some that I have worked with for a few years now. As a fashion lover, it's so much fun to pick out some new clothes every month and share photos with you all.
So how do I break the comparison cycle? Well I try to be happy for others getting opportunities I am not, and I go after ones I want. I always reach out to companies I would like to work with, and give them a great 'pitch' for a blog post. Sometimes I hear back and sometimes I don't, so I wait a few months and then try again!  Polite, persistence is key, as sometimes it takes companies a while to return an email. I always remember why I started blogging in the first place, and that helps me to be more focused on me rather than other bloggers.
So today, this blue Gucci inspired dress is a great piece for you to own as it's under $30. Make sure to shop it below.

To The Mom Who Can't Be "There"...

If you have been following me for a while you probably know these two things about me, 1. I am a kindergarten teacher, and 2. I have son named Charlie who is now 6 years old. If you are a mom too I am sure you have what I call, "mom guilt" from time to time. My "mom guilt" mostly occurs when I am not able to be at an important event in my child's life.
One of the most important events for any child is obviously the first day of school, whether that is Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 9, and so on.  In the last three years of Charlie's school career I have missed taking him on first day of school. I wasn't able to see him go to school in junior/senior Kindergarten and now in Grade 1.
Don't get me wrong, I do love my teaching job, but not being able to see my own child off to school on his first day because I am enjoying the first days of all my students definitely makes me feel like a mom failure. I know that I should remember all the positive things I get to with my child in the summertime, but it's hard knowing that these 'magical' young ages aren't going to be around forever.
So to the mom who can't be "there" please remember, you are doing everything you can for your child. I tend to ask friends to get pictures for me so it looks like I was '"there", and remember to give your child a huge hug when he or she comes home from school. Mom guilt doesn't go away easily, and I am hoping some of you can sincerely relate to this post. We all will need to miss events in our child's lives for reasons we can't really control (mine is going to work), but just know your child will be ok without you 'there' and he or she will always love you the same.

fall feelings

We have had such a hot summer here this year that I hate to admit it, but I am kind of looking forward to fall.  Plaids, tweeds, and gorgeous coats are all on my clothing wish list. I know what does all of this have to do with this floral dress, well I am so grateful that my fave dress line Eliza J often sends me a gifted dress (or two). Eliza J dresses are exquisitely made, and the fit is always perfection. If you're in Canada you can find Eliza J at The Bay, and if you're in the U.S, Canada or worldwide then Nordstrom is your place for a great selection of the Eliza J line.
This floral long sleeve dress is perfection, I love the sleeves, the tie neck, and the length, it's perfect for work! I know I will be wearing this beauty a lot! You can check my Eliza J wish list in the shop the look section below.

Party's Over

Well well, there are only two days left until the start of this school year. Summer goes so fast and I am overly sad about going back to work this year. I love my job but after having such a fun summer it's going to be hard to get back into the day to day routine. I have gravitated towards jumpsuits this season and this blue off the shoulder one is perfect. The material is so light and with a price tag that's super affordable I know you will love it too.

Summer vibing

Oh man! I feel like this summer flew by and I am sorry I haven't been posting as often. My goal for September is to get back into a regular posting schedule.  This incredible floral dress has been an instant fave in the closet. When it arrived it was too small so I took it to my tailor and she created the perfect fit.
